Thanks to the introduction of new staff, new systems and additional resources, AITT has continued to build on momentum over the last 12 months. As the UK’s fastest growing accrediting body for workplace transport training, it is crucial we take a prominent role in encouraging higher standards across the materials handling industry.

In an environment where the HSE has a 94% conviction rate for prosecutions and fines routinely exceed £1m, the need for accredited training has never been more critical.

With workplace transport accidents still occurring at alarming rates, businesses must invest in high-quality training to protect their operators, colleagues, and themselves from costly mistakes and liabilities.

However, annual figures released by the Accrediting Bodies Association (ABA) make for positive reading. Members of the 5 accrediting bodies that make up the ABA issued more than 100,000 training certificates. This shows that the message is getting out there and resonating with businesses.

And we’re pleased to say that just over 31% of those were issued by AITT-accredited training providers. It’s an impressive figure which reflects the trust placed in our services, and the quality of training delivered. Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK (NMUK) is a prime example of a company that has embraced the benefits of AITT accreditation. After a rigorous selection process, they chose AITT accreditation for their Sunderland site where over 6,000 employees work. According to NMUK, AITT stood out for its professional support and high-quality training materials, which have helped Nissan maintain stringent safety standards and ensure their operators are fully equipped to handle complex tasks.

This year, we expanded our technical support team with the addition of Peter Williams as Technical Coordinator. Peter, in partnership with Jules Cook, our Technical Manager, has been pivotal in ensuring that our training providers benefit from fast and reliable support. Among the improvements has been the launch of dedicated support lines. These lines offer members quicker, more direct access to expert guidance, ensuring they receive timely and reliable assistance whenever they need it.

Looking ahead to 2025, we remain committed to helping our providers work more efficiently while maintaining the high standards associated with AITT. Our ACORNS system continues to be an invaluable tool, allowing employers to verify operator credentials and protect their operations from the risks of fraudulent training. With initiatives like these, we are well-positioned for another year of growth, innovation, and progress.
