William Reed Business Media has been providing market leading business information for 150 years. The markets we serve are central to everyone’s life. They include food and drink, where our activities extend across manufacturing, logistics, retail, wholesale and hospitality, and, more recently, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

What brought you to this industry?

After many years working within food and drink related exhibitions, in 2010 WRBM launched the first ever dedicated food and drink logistics show.

What’s the most exciting thing about your job?

Being part of a very innovative and dynamic industry, and facilitating the invaluable interface between suppliers and buyers.

Who inspired you most in your career?

Over the years I have been directed and inspired by many great people – too many to mention and would hate to offend by not mentioning them all.

If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?

A very flat floor as it supports everything else from there!

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?

Be less afraid to voice any creative ideas.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

Always involves alcohol – I’ll leave it at that!

Who or what makes you laugh?

My children are a great source of fun, however, one of the funniest people is comedian Michael McIntyre.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Juggling.

Who would be your favourite party guest?

Anthony Hopkins.

What is the greatest luxury in your life?

My health.

What is your favourite guilty pleasure?

TV and crisps.

Do you have any secret ambitions?

Having previously worked within the medical arena I remain in awe of the tremendous work carried out by top notch surgeons and would love to be a part of that.

What’s your dream holiday destination?

Maldives.

What are your three favourite movies of all time?

Gangster movie Scar Face, followed by Aliens and ending with The Fighter.

What is your favourite book of all time?

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S Thompson and of course The Beano!

What’s your favourite pastime?

Having previously represented GB in middle distance athletics, running remains a passion and I loved the recent London Olympic Games.

If you won the Lottery, what would you do?

Like the rest of the past winners, buy fast cars and long expensive beach holidays.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?

Network, network and network.
