On the 3rd August 2012 Storage Equipment Safety Service Ltd (SESS) celebrated its 25th anniversary. The event was marked back in mid July with a BBQ (in the rain of course, under gazebos and marquees!!) for all the staff, their families, and friends at the SESS Head Office in Cramlington, Northumberland.

SESS are the undisputed market leader in Rack Safety Inspections and related training. Numerous, very well known, national and international companies use their Rack Safety Inspection and Training Services. These are completely unbiased as SESS do not make, sell or repair racking.

Their 25th year of trading has been exceptional, culminating with The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) accrediting the SESS Rack Inspection Course. This followed the re-developing of the course in line with the IOSH standards for training disciplines and SESS’s own continual improvement policy. The title of the new IOSH accredited course is ‘Safety Management of Pallet Racking’. In addition, all the SESS trainers have completed, and have been awarded, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Professional Trainers Certificate.

Regular Rack Safety Inspections, and associated training, are essential to ensure a safe working environment. User companies are often misled by the so called experts on what the legal requirements are for Rack Inspections.  The standards for inspections are set by the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA). The external Inspector should be a SEMA Approved Rack Inspector (SARI).  The legislation is covered within the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 Section 2, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, and The Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999.

SESS will provide completely independent, objective advice and recommendations to customers and potential customers.
