Different factors contribute towards a safe environment and everyone has a contribution to make. In fact, each stage is so intrinsically linked you cannot deliver safely on one element without keeping it central throughout every stage of your equipment’s lifecycle. From the start, storage equipment must be designed specifically for its chosen application and factor in appropriate controls. The design should address safety critical areas such as accessing stock, how to protect employees around the warehouse and ensuring the racking delivers on its intended role. You should not underestimate the level of technical knowledge required when installing storage equipment. If performed incorrectly, it can affect the structural integrity of the new equipment. This can reduce safety standards and potentially result in unnecessary and expensive remedial costs, according to Matthew Grierson, president of SEMA.

Plastic bins and containers can be considered the unsung heroes of modern retail logistics, says Edward Hutchison, Managing Director of BITO Storage Systems. Performing a vital role inside the warehouse for storage units and as order picking totes, the importance of plastic bins and containers continues outside of the warehouse where they are increasingly used for online deliveries in grocery retail logistics. Inside a retail warehouse, plastic containers are ideal for storing a variety of SKUs on racking, shelving or in carton live storage flow lanes.

AR Racking has obtained the ISO 50001 certification. The certification ensures compliance with the ISO 50001 standard, an international standard that helps reduce energy consumption, minimises its carbon footprint and reduces costs encouraging sustainable energy consumption. The ISO 50001 standard certification, issued by the world’s leading entity in certification, classification and risk analysis LRQA (Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance), verifies that AR Racking is committed to and has adopted a systematic approach to energy performance, acquisition and consumption.

As warehouses become busier, it is vital to maintain storage equipment safety.
