Logistics business Speedy Freight has been shortlisted in the Franchisor of the Year category of the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards.

Speedy Freight is known for providing a 24 hour, all year round reliable, and cost-effective same-day courier service to businesses throughout the UK and Europe.

Known as the ‘Oscars’ of the franchising industry and set to take place on 30 November in Birmingham, the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards evening is the flagship event in the franchising calendar.

This year saw a record number of entries submitted across all categories, leading to an overall increase of nearly 30 per cent when compared to 2020. Despite what has been a challenging 18 months for most standalone businesses, the franchising sector has shown strength and resilience. As a result, many bfa members have reported their highest ever level of franchisee recruitment and one of their most successful years for profitability and business development.

Speedy Freight will be battling it out against five other franchise brands to take home the coveted Franchisor of the Year accolade.

The Franchisor of the Year category seeks to recognise businesses with strong ethical franchising credentials and a commitment to franchising. An award nomination serves as a marker of success for any franchise, proving the business works ethically and in the best interests of franchisees and staff.

Commenting on this year’s awards and Speedy Freight’s nomination, Pip Wilkins, CEO of the British Franchising Association, said: “In the last 18 months the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, coupled with the UK’s exit from the European Union has had a significant impact on the logistics industry. However, the Speedy Freight network showed real resilience and determination. Through collaborating with franchisors and franchisees, Speedy Freight were able to rapidly put in place services to support major retailers and other hauliers, helping them to navigate new legislative changes, the impact of driver shortages and increased consumer demand.”
