When Goplasticpallets.com was approached by a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, who was looking for a solution to replace its existing wooden pallets and collars, the UK’s plastic pallet experts were able to offer the perfect match!

Just eight weeks on from receiving the initial enquiry, all 550 of the customers plastic pallet boxes and lids were delivered.

The customer needed a very shallow Euro sized pallet box and lid with an internal height no greater than 300mm; essentially a box that replicates a pallet and collar but without the disadvantages. The box was required to store and transport valve and hose fittings sent from the customer’s valve supplier into their manufacturing site. To ensure product protection and high levels of QA compliance, foam inserts were designed and fitted inside the box to protect the valves in transit.

Getting the valves between the two sites in pristine condition is essential to make sure that the components are available and ready to be sequenced into the assembly of the finished product with zero defects or delays. Once emptied, the box is then inspected and returned to the component supplier ready to be used through many cycles in the supply chain.

Goplasticpallets.com recommended its GoPalletBox 1208LS 4F – a durable, rigid low height pallet box on four feet with external dimensions of 1200mm (L) x 800mm (W) x 400mm (H). The usable, internal height of this box is 245mm and matched the requirements in optimising the footprint and cube. Despite its slightly unusual specification, it is a standard product stocked solely by Goplasticpallets.com in the UK.

Replacing the customer’s wooden pallets and collars with our GoPalletBox 1208LS 4F and lid has solved several challenges. Firstly, nails, splinters and the inconsistencies inherent in wooden pallets and collars are no longer an issue and the plastic boxes can be easily cleaned, if required. Secondly, the switch to plastic means that the problem with fluctuating cost and availability of wood packaging is removed, as too is the timely hassle of disposing of wood and other associated packing. Finally, the design and structure of the plastic pallet box base allows for easy handling with forklifts and powered pallet trucks.

Furthermore, to help the customer easily identify the type of insert and the specification of the valve in each box, Goplasticpallets.com added special colour coded identification labels to all four sides, as well as asset labels, which are used to quickly indicate whether the individual box is designated for use with a small or large valve. This feature saves time when the boxes are being loaded and helps to index them into the assembly process quickly and without error, saving time and cost. This feature was an important part of the total solution that was developed with the users of the equipment in mind.

Just eight weeks on from receiving the initial enquiry, all 550 of the customers plastic pallet boxes and lids were delivered to their site in Leicester, demonstrating the efficiency of both our manufacturing partner and our customer service team.
