First of all, Jim, can you talk us through the different products and services Rite Hite provides?

Jim Smith, Director of Rite Hite UK Ltd.

We offer a full range of products that service the loading dock area and in plant safety.

We offer a full range of dock shelters and seals to suit every sort of situation. Our Eclipse Shelter creates a dock seal and eliminates the light coming into the dock, which makes it an ideal option for food production and also is well suited in situations when a tight seal is needed.

Also we offer the only FEM 3 Rated Vehicle Restraint in Europe, the Global Wheel Lock (Higher Locking Arm Height), this really does separate us from the competition.

Another one of key products is our high speed doors the Fastrax and Lite Speed Doors, in regards to the Fastrax door it is only true auto re-feed door on the market.

Our Barrier Systems, the Dok Guardian, which can stop a fork lift going 4MPH when protecting a standard dock opening and Spanguard, which can mark off an area of over 18M and protect against pump trucks.

What sets your company apart as a supplier in your category?

We offer a complete service business, from quoting for new projects to servicing customers sites. Also we offer expert advice on loading dock and in plant safety issues.

One option we offer is the Rite Report, where we can review any area of your warehouse or loading dock. This is something we offer free of charge and gives a full document listing any issues and also can showcase what the Rite Hite solution is for that particular application.

One of strongest assets is our global network of companies, as Rite Hite operates in every continent across the world. So we can call on experts from every corner of global to help us if needed. As there won’t be a situation they haven’t seen before.

What business sectors are your customers in? Which industry sectors are growing fastest for you?

We operate across many different industries including: logistics, food, wholesalers, distribution, cold storage, pharmaceutical.

But this only names a few of the areas we operate in, as anywhere with a loading dock can be a customer of ours. As well this we offer a range of in plant safety equipment, so anywhere with a warehouse is another potential Rite Hite customer.

Whenever a company has a problem we can offer the ‘rite’ solution.

Which of your core products and solutions are you presenting on your stand at IMHX? Are you launching anything new at the show?

On our stand Rite Hite will be showcasing a range of our products including:

• Flex Neck LED Light

• LED Countdown Screen

• TS-200 Trailer Stand

• Spanguard

• Dok Guardian

As well as this we will have our fantastic NxtGen App which allows us to showcase the whole Rite Hite product range. This is done via videos, animations, images, case studies and presentations.

So at the IMHX show we can show all of our products not just the ones on the stand.

Why should busy professionals from the warehouse and logistics industry take time out to visit your stand at IMHX?

We are able to offer a professional insight into anyone’s loading dock and in plant safety issues and offer advice and solutions. Also with us having a lot of these products on stand we can showcase how they work and how they will fit into your work place.

Also we can enlighten people to the potential dangers that occur on a daily basis at loading dock, and how Rite Hite has the products to reduce these risks.

What do you see as the main benefits to your company from being involved with IMHX?

It firstly allows us to showcase our vast product range to wide range of business that will be attending the IMHX. It also offer a unique opportunity to network with people inside our industry and also potential customers.

The last IMHX was 2016. How has your business changed since then?

Our business has changed a lot since 2016, the main thing that is effecting us all is Brexit. This impact has been huge on most sectors in the UK with the uncertainty of what is next.

But from a Rite Hite UK point of view we have made the acquisition of C-Mech, which has diversified our service portfolio and customer base.

Also we have been able to offer a more diverse range of products which allows us to service a wider range of customers. Can you tell us about your major customer contract wins in the last three years? Do these represent new development areas for your company? Over the past three years Rite Hite have won several large contracts, but one which we see as important for our business is DHL and installing our Global Wheel Lock System on a few of their sites. We are looking to develop this into becoming a flagship for safety across the logistics industry.

Which other countries do you operate in besides the UK? Which overseas markets are most important for you?

Rite Hite UK is a part of the worldwide Rite Hite Group, this group operates in every continent across the world.

So where ever you are in the world, a local Rite Hite company or Independent representative can help with your company needs.

It’s three years to the next IMHX. Where do you see your company going in that time?

Further development with our key global accounts will be essential towards our company growth. A further development point will be to grow our service portfolio. Additionally we will work on further development of our current customer base via both service and sales, also adding new business into the mix.

With the UK coming out of Europe in the next few months, this will finally be the end of Brexit. The effect on the economy over the next 18 months will be interesting, this will have an impact on most if not all of our customer base. So we will concentrate on offering a great service and making sure we stick to key values of Rite Hite:

• We exist through the consent of our customers.

• We value and respect each individual employee as a primary asset.

• We strive for truly great versus merely good performance.

• We will be guided by honesty in deed, word and relationship.

But by utilising our global network we will be on a strong footing towards a positive next few years. We want to grow our business into becoming the recognised name in the UK when looking at Loading Dock Safety and In Plant Safety.

Through constant product development we will improve our already impressive products and also increase our product range. So we are able to offer our customer a better range of products and also a superior product.
