Hundreds of materials handling professionals ‘played it safe’ at IMHX by taking part in the Fork Lift Truck Association’s ‘Play it Safe’ interactive challenge.
During the four-day exhibition, the FLTA offered visitors to its stand the unmissable opportunity to assess their safety awareness, rule out any blind spots, and, potentially, win a safety prize bundle worth £400.
The interactive, touchscreen challenge was specially developed to test awareness of key aspects of fork lift truck operations, including legislation and maintenance.
Each day, a year’s free Membership of the FLTA Safe User Group was awarded to the top scorer. The four winners were:

Lee Pike from 1st Call Training
Chief Executive, Peter Harvey said: “The challenge was a great success and we received some really positive feedback.
“Some people were clearly shocked by their low scores, but it’s encouraging to know that they’re aware of the gaps in their knowledge, and, importantly, can begin working to remedy them.”
Mr Harvey concluded: “While our overall winners have each received a substantial prize, I hope that each and every one of our participants learned something that will enhance safety at their site – potentially preventing a serious incident – and you can’t put a price on that.”
The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) is Europe’s largest representative body for dealers, suppliers and manufacturers of lift trucks and associated equipment. Since 1972, the FLTA has been improving standards and safety in the materials handling industry, with initiatives including National Fork Lift Safety Week, the FLTA Awards for Excellence, and a national apprenticeship.
