swisslog-logoProcter & Gamble (P&G), the world’s leading consumer goods company, has commissioned Swisslog to design and implement an extension to their automated highbay warehouse at Manchester. Swisslog, who have worked with P&G on several of their sites, previously worked on modernizing the existing automated highbay warehouse at Manchester where they delivered a very high availability for both software and mechanical equipment since going live. Swisslog will act as general contractor for this new order.

The solution is a stand alone cladrack warehouse including sprinklers, composite fire resistant cladding and the overall integration of systems with P&G’s existing warehouse.  Swisslog will project manage the extension where they will implement their own controls and software products. They will also install their conveyors and Swisslog Accalon cranes, handling two pallets at a time simultaneously in double deep storage. This will improve performance and storage density.

P&G are a significant customer for Swisslog in the UK. In 1986, Swisslog built an automated highbay warehouse in London to deal with palletised washing powders. Swisslog were commissioned again in 2006 to build an automated highbay extension at P&G’s Northern Service Centre in Skelmersdale. This award winning implementation demonstrated Swisslog’s understanding of P&G’s business needs, realising a quick integration into their supply chain logistics.

Through this partnership, Swisslog are committed to offering industry leading solutions that enable P&G to achieve perfect distribution management, a continuous flow of products and maximum availability while still increasing quality and lowering logistics costs.

Pieter Feenstra, Head of Europe 2, and Managing Director at Swisslog UK Limited comments: “We are very proud to work with Procter & Gamble and we will continue to ensure that we are worth the trust that they put in us as a business partner.”
