What’s the most exciting thing about your job?
It’s the people. Whether it’s helping customers solve problems with our lifting devices, or it’s collaborating with the team at TAWI – the people I work with are what keep it exciting and interesting.
If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?
I would have to say a vacuum lifter! If I were a vacuum lifter, I would make the jobs of the warehouse employees faster, safer, and easier! But in all honesty, it’s such a useful production and injury prevention device, I couldn’t pick anything else.
What’s your favourite pastime?
When I’m not working at the TAWI office in Northampton, I am a family man who tries to enjoy the game of golf whenever time allows.
Do you play a sport, follow a sport or support a team?
Aside from golf, I am a big Coventry fan!
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m sure like many other people in our industry, I like getting my hands dirty at home with some ‘DIY’ projects. As we are expanding our offices at TAWI, those skills might come in very useful soon!
Who would be your favourite party guest?
I can’t say I have ever put thought to this, but perhaps Mike Tyson? He would certainly be an interesting person to meet! I can imagine he would have some very interesting stories to tell.
If you won the Lottery, what would you do?
If we won the lottery, I think my family and I would look into moving somewhere with nicer weather. Perhaps somewhere a bit warmer and more tropical.
Who or what makes you laugh?
Dry humour!
What’s your dream holiday?
A dream holiday for me would be somewhere far away – Australia. It has so much to offer – wildlife, scenic beauty, vibrant cities, and of course great food.
What’s your favourite movie or Netflix series?
I go through phases, but right now I am finding sports documentaries really interesting. Especially with the recent Olympics documentaries streaming on Netflix such as ‘Receiver’ or the one that covers Simone Biles. I really find the mindset of a competitor interesting.
What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?
I think in general I would advise people to not let perfection get in the way of better. In an industry that has so many options when it comes to technology and software, it can be easy to get so focused on the solutions to our problems that we forget what we are trying to achieve to begin with. That’s where we fit in – we bring the logic back to logistics with simple and intuitive material handling solutions.
