Taking care of the environment, Travis Perkins Group, the UK’s largest distributor of building materials, is accelerating its decarbonisation plan by switching out its fleet of diesel forklift trucks with up to 1,100 new electric machines by mid-2024. This multi-million pound investment, which the Group refers to as ‘Project Switch’, will be facilitated by Briggs Equipment and is one of the largest forklift truck change programmes of its kind. At the centre of the project is the Travis Perkins plc fleet of diesel-powered forklift trucks being replaced with electric alternatives up to eight years ahead of schedule.

Bringing together the global intralogistics community, LogiMAT 2023, the International Trade Show for Intralogistics Solutions and Process Management, opens its doors at the Messe Stuttgart convention centre in just a few weeks. With a theme of “Hands- On Innovation: Connecting Smart Networks”, the show will run in ten packed exhibit halls and the open space between Halls 8 and 10 in an event running April 25–27, 2023.

Turning to a tried and trusted materials handling partner, online fashion retailer ASOS worked with BS Handling Systems when setting up its fourth fulfilment centre. BS Handling Systems was responsible for creating the conveyor ring which helps move 1200 inbound cartons or returns totes, as well as 1200 outbound totes an hour through the pick tower.

Celebrating a long-term partnership, leading barcode label and security specialist inotec’s collaboration with Georg Utz has resulted in the production of over 40 million in-mould labels for plastic totes, crates, pallets and dollies. The significant investment between inotec and Georg Utz began in 2008 and has enabled the in-mould labelling process to become fully automated within the production of new totes and crates, our warehouse I.T. feature reports.
