PFM Packaging Machinery’s innovative vertical form fill and seal technology will be the centrepiece – among the company’s outstanding range of automated solutions for the food sector – at this year’s Foodex Show at the NEC, Birmingham on March 30-April 1.

The R700 is a flexible, compact solution for the production of bags sealed on three sides, such as pillow-bags, and block bottom bags, including four corner seals, with speeds of up to 120 cycles per minute. It is one of PFM’s R series of vertical form fill and seal machines that feature automated film reel set-up, eliminating one of the most difficult and time-consuming tasks for operators.

Alongside the R700 VFFS will be the Pearl, a horizontal flowrapper constructed in stainless steel for hygiene benefits. The Pearl is becoming increasingly popular for a wide range of applications in the food industry, as well as for pet food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, durables and houseware items.

Compact, with a short infeed, the Pearl is a flexible packaging solution offering reduced downtime for reel changes, automatic film web tracking and a space-saving footprint. High speed and capable of up to 150 packs/min, the Pearl has been developed by PFM to provide all the efficiency advantages of multi-axis servo drive, but at an entry level cost.

Also on show is the firm’s multihead weigher, specifically designed for high-speed and precision weighing of granules, pellets and similar products. Versatile and reliable with zero maintenance, PFM’s weighers are at the cutting edge of mechanical, hardware and software technology.

In addition to the equipment, PFM will have a team of experts standing by to discuss any of the firm’s full range of cost-effective solutions, including horizontal packaging machinery and vertical form fill and seal equipment, as well as automating complete lines.

Visitors are urged to visit Stand K260 at Foodex to see why PFM has the reputation for being a great automation partner. Both the UK and Irish Republic are covered from its Leeds headquarters with sales and servicing of a variety of equipment and parts for automating lines that can help manufacturers cut costs and reduce pack wastage.
