Europe’s leading door provider, Hörmann UK, is continuing to position itself at the forefront of industry developments with the launch of its new loading technology, specifically designed to increase efficiency, safety and security throughout supply chain operations.

Working closely with its clients across the UK, Hörmann has developed its latest range of solutions to simplify the loading and unloading process whilst also protecting the infrastructure of the warehouse for years to come.

One of its most recent launches, the DAP electronic docking assistant, is equipped with an innovative LED traffic light system that accelerates the docking process, whilst simultaneously protecting drivers and warehouse operators from injury. The technology is designed to minimise the potential risk of collision damage to vehicles and loading ramps as it accurately guides the vehicle safely into the bay.

For overarching safety and efficiency, the DAP electronic docking assistant can be used in conjunction with Hörmann UK’s DOBO system, which allows vehicles to dock before opening its doors. Sensors in the loading bay door leaf detect the position of the vehicle, working in sync with the DAP traffic light system to guide the vehicle into the bay, without damaging the ramp or vehicle.

The doors of the vehicle are then guided into a recess in front of the dock, enabling the lip of the dock leveler to extend once the doors have been opened, reducing the gap to the vehicle for increased safety and security. Up to five minutes docking time is reduced per vehicle when the DOBO and DAP systems are used together.

Projects Director for Hörmann UK, Tom Langley, said: “Improving the safety and efficiency of our customer’s operations are top priorities for us as one of Europe’s leading manufacturers. This is why we have launched a complete suite of loading technologies that can be used in conjunction to provide a bespoke solution, tailored to each client’s unique requirements.

“As well as introducing our DAP and DOBO systems, we have also developed a range of PU, foam-filled buffers, which are spring-loaded to help absorb the impact of heavy loads in the event of making contact with the warehouse structure. All of these innovations are designed to minimise any potential downtime due to accidents or damage, whilst simultaneously protecting employees from potential harm.” For further information on Hörmann UK’s servicing department and loading technology, call 01530 516850 or visit: www.hormann.co.uk/industry-commerce-and-public-authorities/service.
