A high-speed roller door installation by Union Industries has increased energy efficiency at the production facility of a major electrical component distributor, Anglia Components.

A bespoke Bulldoor has been designed and manufactured to combat Anglia’s previous issues of poor building access and security, by providing quick access in and out of its warehouse, without having to leave the doorway open. The Bulldoor also provides the additional benefit of preventing cold air or other elements from getting into the building.

Featuring yellow and grey steel work and an Anglia Components logo, the high-speed Bulldoor was primarily required for increasing security and minimising heat loss through a busy ‘Goods In’ doorway, in the Inbound Logistics area.

Established in 1972, Anglia Components is the UK’s leading independent distributor of semiconductors, optoelectronics, interconnect, passive and electromechanical components. Anglia stocks more than one billion components from in excess of 900,000 product lines in the UK, which are dispatched regularly from its facility.

Union Industries’ Bulldoors are often regarded as the ‘reliable workhorse’ of rapid roll doors and have been known to perform more than 1.4 million cycles per year, making it a popular choice across several industry sectors. The Bulldoors feature specialist ‘Crash-Out’ and ‘Auto-Reset’ damage protection facilities, and offer control outputs for options such as airlocks, traffic control systems and remote monitoring, in addition to temperature control for ambient and chilled environments.

Union Industries’ market-leading, bespoke, high-speed roller doors help to prevent the severe drop of ambient temperature in buildings, especially in the winter months, which eliminates any potential impact on production environments.

Jill Bowie, Operations Director at Anglia Components, said: “We are delighted with the Bulldoor installation in our Inbound Logistics area as it has increased security, enabled us to work more efficiently and prevents cold air from entering the building. We are very impressed with its quality, build and operation. Throughout the colder months of the year, the Bulldoor will provide a safer and more comfortable working environment as well as improving our energy efficiency.”

Robert Howe, Technical Sales Engineer at Union Industries, said: “We are thrilled to have supplied Anglia Components with one of our Bulldoors, which is a popular choice for a cross-section of production facilities. Our range of high-speed roller doors are engineered and created to be resilient, long lasting and to undergo high intensity operations, while being tailored to meet our clients’ individual requirements. “Companies such as Anglia Components battle with issues of heat loss and security due to their high volume of distributions and our doors provide an effective solution to overcome these challenges.”

From its origins as a tarpaulin maker and repairer, Leeds-based Union Industries manufactures a range of industrial products, including its market-leading range of High Speed Industrial Rapid Roller Doors that are commonly regarded as the best in industry. The current range includes the Ramdoor, Bulldoor, Matadoor, Lion Door, Picadoor and the unique Eiger Freezer Door.

These fast-acting doors are installed in distribution centres, warehouses, factories and storage facilities to improve logistics and save heat loss for companies across the UK and Europe. Its portfolio of clients includes Tesco, Cummins, ASDA, TRW, Lidl, Jaguar Land Rover and Bidvest Foodservice.
