Sam Greenhalgh, Simarco International Ltd

Hoppecke-LogoHighThe son of a Simarco HGV driver, 18 year-old Sam Greenhalgh joined Simarco International as an apprentice shortly after completing his GCSEs and took up a position within the company’s warehousing and distribution division. He has quickly established himself as a capable and committed member of a 15-strong team at the heart of operations for one of the country’s leading independent freight firms.

Sam’s ability to quickly absorb information, adhere to best practice procedures and liaise with clients in and colleagues in a clear and calm manner, meant that he was able to move on to compiling monthly charging schedules before his nine-month apprenticeship was complete.

His contribution to the business resulted in Sam being given his own clutch of clients and he assumed responsibility for billing and customer relations.

Barry Spencer, Simarco’s Warehousing and Distribution director, commented: “Sam’s conduct and ability to grasp and then apply the details of working in a busy fluid industry has been exemplary. In my opinion he has a great future ahead of him.”

Nathan Jones, Linde Materials Handling

20 year-old Nathan is in the second year of a four-year apprenticeship programme which will lead to him gaining both a formal qualification as a forklift technician and, based on the potential he has already demonstrated, an extended qualification in management studies.

Nathan has already impressed his Linde colleagues and in 2012 his efforts were rewarded when he was named Linde’s Apprentice of the Year.

Steven Pearce, head of customer service at Linde Severnside Ltd, commented: “Nathan is a valued member of the team in the workshop and is respected and liked by his peers; he displays a high level of enthusiasm and is eager to learn and take on new challenges.”
