Acumen Automotive Logistics Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Acumen Logistics Group, has agreed with LTI Vehicles, manufacturer of the ‘iconic’ London Taxi, to make night deliveries to the company’s dealership in Brewery Road, Islington during the Olympic Games. Brewery Road borders the ORN (Olympic Route Network) and will therefore be severely congested during the Olympics when the ORN is closed to traffic.
Acumen Automotive Logistics’ drivers will abide by Transport for London’s (TfL) code of conduct for firms which requires drivers to turn off reversing alarms and radios, shut doors quietly and avoid shouting or whistling. The code will apply when the ORN comes into force on the 25th July until the end of the Games on the 14th September.
Commenting, Peter Raybould, Director of Acumen Automotive Logistics says: “With access and delivery times restricted along the ORN and surrounding areas, it was necessary to work with LTI Vehicles to change to night time deliveries. We have briefed our drivers that they should plan ahead so that they minimise the noise they make so as to avoid disturbing local residents”.
Acumen Automotive Logistics’ fleet of specialist car transporters carry around 2,500 taxis each year from Coventry delivering to LTI Vehicles’ distribution facility in Warwickshire. It then transports the taxis to UK customers throughout the UK and to LTI Vehicles’ depot in Brewery Lane.
