Welcome to the 1 November Warehouse & Logistics News. With just a few days left until IMHX 2010 opens for business at the NEC, Birmingham, if you’re planning to visit, we’d like to wish you a good journey to the Show. We’re printing 5,000 extra copies of this issue to give out at IMHX on our stand, 19J149, and we look forward to seeing you there!
In this issue we have features on Fork Trucks, The Loading Bay and Packaging. Fork Trucks looks at all things fork truck, including counterbalance trucks, side loaders, VNA, reach trucks and other specialist machines. The Loading Bay includes doors, dock levelers and dock lifts. Packaging covers transit packaging, stretch wrappers and other forms of protection used throughout the supply chain.
Warehouse & Logistics News is very pleased to support the 2011 RTITB Sumo Glove Lift Truck Operator of the Year Competition, as the official Media Partner. As we report in this issue, the Competition will be launched at IMHX 2010 on Tuesday 16 November on the RTITB stand, N70 in Hall 18, and is open to all eligible NORS operators. Entry is through an online hazard perception and theory test opening 1st January, followed by five regional National Finals in Spring 2011 and the Grand Final in September. This exciting initiative will help convey the crucial message that in today’s fast-moving warehouse environment forklift safety and proper operator training are essential, and we hope WLN readers will support it fully.
We’ve also got interviews in this issue with Gavin Clark, Commercial Director of Synergy Logistics; Nick Smith, MD of STILL UK, and Shaun Ingram, MD of QTS, short for Qube Transportation Supplies Limited.
Synergy Logistics’ latest award-winning WMS solution Snapfulfil is a breakthrough in WMS affordability. A unique combination of advanced technology, functional strength and a customer-centric business model, Snapfulfil is a comprehensive Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, using the latest web technologies and “Real Time” RF control.
STILL UK’s new management team have developed three key operating regions, bringing sales and service closer together, and integrated DAC – previously STILL’s largest UK distributor – into STILL UK. STILL’s broad-based product range, in particular the RX70, is coming into its own in the current climate, contributing to STILL’s increased sales and market share.
QTS started out in 2003 selling roll cages to end users, but now also sells racking accessories and a growing number of other storage-related products. QTS has been investing in developing new products, increasing its production capacity in China and opening a new UK warehouse to enable it to hold larger stocks, reduce lead times for orders and capture a wider audience. Bringing the story up to date, November also sees QTS making its debut as an exhibitor at IMHX 2010.
Happy reading, and see you at IMHX on stand 19J149!
