A continuous growth in business has enabled Spartan, which operates out of a 6,000 sq ft warehouse at Parkway Links in Kettlebridge Road, to invest in the 44-tonne vehicle.
Spartan, whose HQ is in London, is among a 65-strong nationwide group of licensees within the Fortec Pallet Distribution Network. The company’s new vehicle is the first within the Network to carry Fortec’s new livery, which bears its name and the name of parent company Geodis Calberson.
The truck is the largest vehicle within the Sheffield fleet and marks the latest chapter in a story of success for Spartan since it moved into the city in March.
When partners Tracey Brooks and Stuart Staniland opened the warehouse they had no customers on the books. By the end of their first week they moved four pallets.
Today Spartan serves a 40-strong client base in Sheffield and puts more than 200 pallets into the Fortec Network every week.
Tracey said: “We would like to thank our customers for their valued custom and ongoing loyalty. We would also like to thank the Spartan directors Martin Barron and Steve Illidge who have been of tremendous support to us and given us a fantastic chance to open up in the north. We have a first class team here at Spartan which has built up a fantastic rapport with customers. We have only been here since March but we are delighted with how well it has gone in just those first few months.”
Spartan first joined the Fortec network six years ago. Managing Director Martin Barron said he had looked at a number of rival networks but Fortec was the one that ‘ticked all the boxes’.
He said in Spartan’s time with Fortec, the pallet network had provided a ‘faultless’ service benefiting himself and his 40 customers.
He said: “The key to Fortec’s success is time management, communication and quality. It is absolutely second to none. Fortec is not interested in quantity, it is all about quality. I know if there is a problem Neil Hodgson, Fortec’s Managing Director, will communicate with me and together we will work something out.
“Over the years we have built up a fantastic partnership between Fortec and Spartan and we have not experienced a single problem – either in London or Sheffield. We take calls all the time from other networks seeking our business but we wouldn’t leave Fortec because we have been more than satisfied with the support we have received from them.”
