Integrated logistics provider, Partner Logistics, is continuing to improve its health and safety procedures by increasing the robustness of height safety and rescue training at its automated cold stores.
Operating at temperatures as low as -27 degrees centigrade and with racking up to 33 metres high, comprehensive climbing training is a top priority at the warehouses to protect the safety of employees and raise the standard of emergency rescue planning.
Building on the existing rescue training, the new training covers areas such as carrying out tasks at high levels, how to rescue someone who is caught in a harness after a fall, and how to properly inspect and use height safety equipment.
Richard Bufton, UK Health, Safety & Quality Officer at Partner Logistics, said: “Emergency climbing training is extremely important in any warehouse and there are further issues to address when working in extremely cold environments. However, the extensive climbing training we provide at Partner Logistics means that our employees are probably the most competent and qualified workers at height in any automated cold store environment.”

17 Partner Logistics personnel have now completed the new course and further training and practice sessions will be implemented throughout the year to further hone skills and improve response times.
