On Thursday 19th March, the team from SEC Storage were presented with an award in the New Facility category at the black-tie SHD Logistics Awards, hosted by comedian Romesh Ranganthan, at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.

The event celebrates excellence in the logistics industry, across eleven main categories. SEC Storage won alongside its client Kuehne + Nagel Ltd for a pallet racking, garment hanging and multitier rack supported picking structure at its site in Milton Keynes.

The judges’ comments, read out by Romesh live on stage, said “Kuehne + Nagel with SEC Storage discussed a project which brought logistical order and efficiency to the fast-moving and unpredictable environment that is fashion. The entry also demonstrated space charge savings in excess of 40%, and an increase in hanging capacity of 30%”.

Peter MacLeod, Editor of SHD Logistics, said “The mood of the evening was celebratory and upbeat, and it was heartening to see the obvious delight and pride shown by the winners. I congratulate SEC Storage – a very deserving winner.”

Just one week later, the same project for SEC Storage was shortlisted in the Storage category at the inaugural IntraLogistics Awards, which formed part of the annual IntraLogisteX Exhibition.

Up against a high level of competition, the project received further praise winning the Bronze Award, presented to Dean Kahl, Marketing Coordinator, at the Ricoh Arena on Wednesday 25th March.

Both awards were judged by two different panels of independent, senior industry experts from around the world, chosen for their knowledge, objectivity and credibility. Judges were from leading retailers, manufacturers and third party logistics providers including Tesco, Norbert Dentressangle, Unipart Logistics, John Lewis and Carlsberg.

“I’m absolutely delighted with both award wins,” commented Steve Watts, Managing Director. “It is just fantastic the project has received industry recognition on multiple occasions.

“It is further testament to the project and our teams’ hard work that this was selected by two completely different independent panel of judges.”

SEC Storage’s project with Maritime Transport also received a High Commendation in the Warehouse Efficiency category at the SHD Logistics Awards, for an innovative solution which enabled the installation of pallet racking onto a tarmac floor.
