Welcome to the July 1st issue of Warehouse & Logistics News.

The Crown ESR Series reach trucks are designed for warehouse operations where stability, speed and accuracy are key. Central to the range is a mast built from high-strength steel, which is intended to reduce deflection during operation. This design supports more precise load placement and allows for lift heights of up to 14.2 metres.

Kite Packaging has added a portable, battery-powered pallet strapping machine to its pack room equipment range, aiming to address the physical demands of manual strapping and improve efficiency in packing operations. Manual strapping typically requires repeated bending, pulling and tensioning, and over time, such repetitive movements can lead to fatigue, discomfort and a higher risk of manual handling injuries.

In a materials handling market shaped by tight margins and growing demand for reliability, UK forklift distributor HCUK is positioning itself as a supplier focused on availability and aftersales support. The company operates as the UK distributor for Hangcha, a global forklift manufacturer, and offers a wide range of equipment covering capacities from 1.5 to 48 tonnes. Its catalogue includes counterbalance forklifts powered by diesel or LPG, as well as electric models using lithium-ion or lead-acid batteries.

When a mechanical and electrical engineering business moved to a larger site, it faced the challenge of improving loading efficiency while handling higher dispatch volumes. To address this, the company installed a van ramp system supplied by Thorworld. The setup allows vans to reverse directly onto the loading dock, replacing the previous practice of loading in the yard. It also enables forklifts to enter the building during loading, with the aim of improving both safety and efficiency.

FBS Hörmann has completed the installation of loading bays, level access doors and temperature-controlled door systems at Bidfood’s new distribution centre in Worcester. The companies have worked together for a number of years, with FBS Hörmann acting as a supplier across Bidfood’s wider estate. For the Worcester site, it was tasked with delivering an integrated system tailored to the demands of the facility. The project included nine loading bays, each fitted with HTL2 dock levellers, SPU67 automated sectional doors, and customised dock pads and bumpers.

A German bicycle manufacturer preparing to open a new warehouse needed a way to temporarily restrict access to 5,000 racking locations to block the availability of the positions until they were brought into use. Inotec’s Drytack labels were the ideal solution as they can be removed and reapplied multiple times, giving warehouse teams a way to manage changes without replacing materials. The system also supports clearer visual identification, making it easier for staff to spot blocked bays. By covering existing barcodes, it reduces the risk of locations being scanned in error.
