The Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) has published a new Best Practice Guide, A Beginner’s Guide to PSTI for members of DHF, to help them understand and comply with the requirements of the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) Act 2022 and associated regulations. The guide was developed in response to growing concerns around cyber security and the increasing use of connected technologies within the door, gate, hardware and access control sectors. The publication has been designed to provide members with a concise introduction to the PSTI Regulations, explaining which products may fall within scope, clarifies the responsibilities of manufacturers, importers and distributors, and offers straightforward guidance on achieving compliance.

BID Group has installed British-manufactured industrial roller shutters and steel hinged personnel doors on a new build industrial unit in partnership with Arrowbuild. For this project, the roller shutter doors were manufactured at BID’s production facility in Bolton and expertly installed by the firm’s North East division, finished in a striking powder-coated RAL 3020 to perfectly match the facility’s requirements. The project delivered industrial roller shutters, engineered for maximum accessibility and high-level security, and steel personnel door sets, designed for secure staff access and compliant emergency escape routes within commercial or industrial facilities.

Until 31 July, EFAFLEX is taking a working high-speed door on the road, with a self-contained trailer visiting sites across the UK. The mobile unit allows businesses to see the door in operation at their own premises, rather than travelling to a showroom. The demonstration is aimed at sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, food production and pharmaceuticals, where high-speed doors play a critical role in day-to-day operations. The door can open at speeds of up to four metres per second.
As more products become connected to the internet, cyber security is becoming particularly relevant to the door and hardware sector, where technologies such as automated doors and gates, smart locks, access control systems, connected cameras, remote monitoring systems and connectivity hubs are becoming increasingly common.
