IFMA, International Facility Management Association, announced the recipients of the 2024 Awards of Excellence at its World Workplace® Conference and Expo in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Winners were recognised in 18 award categories representing exceptional contributions to the association, outstanding examples of facility management initiative, and innovative FM projects, practices and solutions. This year’s awards program received the highest number of nominations in its 39-year history.

Since acquiring the Fen-Bay Group in December 2021, Hörmann have been busy creating the largest, nationwide service and maintenance team operating in the industrial warehouse, logistics and retail markets. Opportunities to work with some of the largest retailers in the UK have also arisen with the company recently winning a regional contract with a well-known supermarket chain to provide service and maintenance support for their retail premises. The contract covers doors, loading, and lifting equipment, security gates and any civil work required.

Having a long history of working with Smart-Space, international vehicle engineering and test service provider HORIBA MIRA called upon them to find a quite specific solution. As the facility is used only during the daytime it offers basic storage provision without lighting, heating or power. Its PVC inflated roof provides lots of natural light that perfectly suits its daytime use.

AB InBev, one of the world’s leading brewers, needed a temporary building to store various brands of canned lager products for their redevelopment plan. Following a site visit by Aganto Sales Director David Duxbury, AB InBev purchased a part-insulated temporary warehouse. Taking twelve weeks from the point of order, a 30m x 85m x 6.2m temporary building was erected with a rapid action roller shutter door and ten pedestrian access doors to accommodate the large building.

In each of the RAF’s five four-month detachments in Romania, the RAF’s Expeditionary Air Wing’s 150 personnel have arrived in Mihail Kog?lniceanu Airbase with 20ft ISO containers in tow. Neatly packed inside is Rubb’s deployable hangar system. Over the course of a few weeks, Rubb’s design team developed a new reusable chemical resin anchor sleeve system that allows 5001 Sqn to return year after year without issue. As the demand for warehouse space continues to increase, it’s great to see the providers of buildings rise to the challenge.
