Lincolnshire-based FBS Hörmann has successfully completed the installation of 13 high-security gates for a major retail organisation across Northern Ireland, marking the company’s first UK project using gates manufactured by fellow Hörmann Group company, Holler Gates.
The installation follows the Hörmann Group’s acquisition of Austrian gate manufacturer Holler Gates in July 2025, further strengthening its growing perimeter protection portfolio.
Established in 1992 by Ewald Holler, the family-owned business is run by its founder and family members. Renowned for manufacturing high-quality aluminium swing and sliding gates, Holler Gates has built a strong reputation across Austria, Germany, and Switzerland for supplying secure, reliable solutions for both commercial and residential applications.
The recent Northern Irish project demonstrates how the expanded Hörmann Group offering is already delivering benefits for customers in the UK. Through FBS Hörmann’s specialist Perimeter Protection Division, UK customers now have access to Holler Gates’ range of high-security, easy-to-install gate systems, combining premium manufacturing standards with the technical expertise and project management capabilities of FBS-Hörmann.
The Northern Ireland contract formed part of a large-scale programme to upgrade perimeter security across multiple retail locations. In total, FBS Hörmann installed 13 new gates, comprising eleven automated cantilever sliding gates, one pair of automated double leaf swing gates and 1 pair of manual swing gates. In addition, the team carried out remedial works at a further 12 sites, upgrading existing gate systems to ensure compliance with current safety standards while returning them to fully automatic operation.
Managing the project from initial survey through to final commissioning, FBS Hörmann delivered a complete turnkey solution. The works included site surveys, civil engineering, installation, force testing, and commissioning, with every gate fitted to current safety requirements, including Category 3 safety edges, dual-height photocells, flashing beacons and emergency stop systems.
As a long-standing trusted partner to the customer, FBS Hörmann coordinated every stage of the project, including the transportation of the gates from the manufacturing facility in Austria to Northern Ireland. Careful planning and logistics management helped streamline the installation programme, ensuring the project was completed efficiently and within the required timescales.
