In honour of Hunger Action Month, Thermo King, a leader in sustainable transport temperature control solutions, teamed up with its network of dealers and customers to donate $15,000 to food banks through its We Move Food programme. The nationwide philanthropic programme has donated more than $550,000 to food banks since Thermo King launched it in 2018, enabling the distribution of more than 5.5 million meals to those in need. This latest donation will help the food banks address the more than 869,000 collective people impacted by hunger in the counties they serve.

Agile Cold Storage has leveraged Swisslog’s automation to enhance its operations. Agile’s new automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) increased storage density by nearly three times, allowing them to store significantly more pallets within the same square footage. This automation also enhanced throughput, efficiency, and flexibility in both pallet storage and replenishment operations.

Though refrigeration systems are crucial for controlling temperatures in cold storage facilities, gas leaks are a common problem that puts employees at risk, diminishes the energy efficiency of the refrigeration system and causes damage to the environment. Refrigerant gas leaks are imperceptible to human senses. Having no colour, taste or smell, they are difficult to discover, which is why, despite the average UK system losing 20% of its gas every year, most leaks remain undetected until 60% of the gas has escaped, according to Stonegate.

NewCold, a global leader in advanced food logistics, has broken ground on the largest and most innovative temperature-controlled warehouse in Central and Southern Italy. The 70 million euro investment is expected to create between 150 and 200 new jobs. Located in Ferentino, in the province of Frosinone, the facility will begin operating in 2026 and is strategically located to serve producers in the region.

The cold chain is a vital contributor to the UK economy, supporting thousands of jobs and generating growth.
