What are the major trends and developments affecting your category and your customers, and how are you responding?

In the storage solutions industry, AR Racking is attuned to key trends and developments, particularly the growing emphasis on sustainability. We respond by investing in sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs, aligning our products with environmental considerations. Additionally, we address the demand for flexibility in storage solutions by innovating adaptable systems. The integration of smart technologies further enhances efficiency.

Our commitment to social and ecological responsibility is evident through initiatives like our participation in the United Nations Global Compact and certifications such as EcoVadis Gold Medal. Mike Smyth, UK Key Account Manager at AR Racking Ltd speaks to Warehouse & Logistics News.

Can you tell us about any areas where you’re currently making technical advances e.g., safety, sustainability, environment?

At AR Racking, sustainability is a core commitment that drives our actions across economic, social, and environmental fronts. Our Living Sustainability Project, promoted by Grupo Arania, embodies our formal pledge to implement sustainable strategies. Rooted in quality, innovation, and reliability, the project focuses on economic, social, and environmental areas. We are proud partners of the UN Global Compact since 2023, integrating its principles and aligning with Agenda 2030’s Sustainable Development Goals. Recognised with the EcoVadis Gold Certification, we continuously implement actions to reduce resource consumption. Our commitment to quality and safety is certified by Avetta, ensuring transparency and reliability across our organisation.

Are you investing in staff training and skills development?

At AR Racking, investing in staff training and skills development is a fundamental pillar of our business strategy, particularly when it comes to our focus on R&D+i. Research and innovation are intrinsic to our philosophy, and to support this dedication, we have an advanced Technological Centre.

Our technical department is exclusively dedicated to the development of advanced engineering projects. Here, our highly qualified technical team conducts continuous tests with the aim of optimising the performance of our products. We use advanced specialised software to simulate, calculate, and investigate the effectiveness of geometries, as well as to perform comprehensive structural calculations on the behaviour of our systems in different situations.

A significant milestone in our commitment to research and testing is the creation of our Research and Testing Laboratory, AR Lab, in collaboration with the University of Mondragón since 2019. This state-of-the-art testing facility integrates various testing areas for struts, connectors, frames, beams, and other components, with a maximum capacity of 80 tons. AR Lab is not only a dedicated testing space but also a permanent environment for basic and applied research, doctoral theses, and specialised training. We are committed to staying at the forefront of innovation and technical excellence through continuous investment in the training and development of our talented team.

Are you taking part in any major trade shows? Can you tell us what you’ll be exhibiting there?
