AITT, one of the UK’s leading accreditation bodies for the materials handling and workplace transport sector, has reported double-digit growth in membership during 2023.

Announcing the year-end results Managing Director, Liam Knight, said: “I’m delighted to say we are once again reporting significant growth. It goes to show that we are doing a lot right. The growth in membership is backed up by record levels of satisfaction for the support we offer and the resources we deliver via our website.

“Perhaps most notable of all, though, is that our fees are exceptionally competitive. Indeed, we haven’t increased our membership charges for more than 3 years and we will not be doing so in 2024. I don’t think anyone else in our sector can come close to matching that.”

According to Mr Knight, the secret behind that remarkable record is the bodies not-for-profit structure.

“It means we are answerable to our members rather than shareholders. As a result, we are driven by the desire to provide the best possible service rather than seeking ever higher profits. Any surplus income we do generate goes directly towards improving standards,” he explains.

Over the past year AITT has introduced several new initiatives to streamline procedures for tutors, allowing them to be better placed to undertake their work. At the same time, it has established an approval scheme for MHE theory training courses that fall outside the scope of accredited operator training.

“We feel it is important to maintain standards of training whilst offering providers the opportunity to expand their offering and boost their income streams. The AITT-Approved scheme endorses independently run courses that we have assessed and will continuously monitor for quality and consistency. It encourages innovation while giving end users complete peace of mind.”
