Demand for ErgoPack’s mobile pallet strapping machines continues to grow, as more and more UK businesses realise the benefits of moving from awkward manual methods.

Warehouse and distribution centre teams are using ErgoPack to replace the labour intensive way of strapping pallets, that usually involves fixing PP or PET strapping to a broom handle or piece of wood, then pushing that through the base of a pallet!

ErgoPack was invented and developed to specifically solve the problem of how to make the pallet strapping process more ergonomic, easier, and more efficient. ErgoPack systems are now used in in more than 60 countries, with over 150,000 machines sold to date.

Wessex Packaging, the Official GB ErgoPack Distributor, works in partnership with many national supply chain, logistics and manufacturing companies to help review their palletisation process, and to integrate ErgoPack into their systems.

Identifying areas where an ErgoPack machine can replace a manual process, often has significant health and wellbeing benefits for warehouse teams, as well as making their jobs easier and more enjoyable, and ultimately delivering a more efficient workflow.

ErgoPack is renowned for helping to reduce the amount of back strain involved in manually strapping pallets, and it is this core benefit that operations and warehouse teams are recognising.

For warehouse operatives who strap 50 pallets per day, this equates to 100 actual strapping cycles (i.e. a minimum of two straps per pallet), which can equate to bending over 50,000 times and walking round pallets 25,000 times per year!

The unique ChainLance feature of ErgoPack easily feeds a piece of strapping through the base of the pallet, up and over the top, back to the hand of the operator, where they then use an integrated tensioning and sealing head to secure the strapping. This means that the operator can remain in one upright position throughout and can easily strap a pallet twice in under 60 seconds!

The Wessex team often work with teams of warehouse managers, health and safety managers and continuous improvement managers, to review and enhance the palletisation process, for the benefit of all.

Ryan Huntley, Head of Corporate Sales at Wessex Packaging, says: “ErgoPack continues to deliver efficiency and improved operator wellbeing to the many companies we work with, and we’re delighted that we can help make these continuous process improvements.

The response we get when people see ErgoPack in action at trade shows, or when we visit companies for on-site demos, is so positive. The realisation that there is an alternative to physically strapping pallets by hand is such a relief, which leads to ErgoPack quickly becoming part of their new way of working.

We’re delighted by the interest in ErgoPack from across many industry sectors, and in the last 12 months have seen usage growth from the automotive, 3PL, logistics, heating and drinks sectors, amongst others.

ErgoPack is set for greater things this year, and the interest we’ve received having exhibited at Empack and IntraLogisteX has been incredible. We’ve got some busy times ahead as we visit warehouses to demonstrate the machines on customers’ own pallet loads, and we look forward to meeting you all soon!”
