Justin Saw, Business Development Director at Logistex spoke to Warehouse & Logistics News.

What are your best-known products/solutions/services?

Logistex are renowned for integrating a wide range of warehouse automation projects using numerous technologies controlled by our Warehouse Execution System – Reflex.

Offering an independent and an unbiased approach to solution design and development, we are not constrained by any product and enjoy the freedom to source best in class products to optimise any solution. As an integrator we provide peace of mind in that any solution we implement is handed over having passed a rigorous testing and performance criteria.

All our solutions are supported using class leading Engineering Support Services and 24/7 Hotline support. Our Hotline Team are all Logistex employees and have an in-depth knowledge of our systems.

How is your industry sector performing at the moment?

Our industry is growing and continues to evolve at an incredibly fast pace. With the price of technology reducing, and the availability of operational resources continuing to be a concern, businesses are constantly seeking to identify how automation can support growth and increase efficiency.

Which industry sectors are your customers in and which ones are growing fastest?

Logistex provide automated solutions to a number of sectors including Pharma, Retail and Sortation. E-com remains a focus area for Logistex as customers seek to increase throughput, offer later next day delivery times and reduce the cost of ordering. We also see significant activity within Retail and Food and Drink sectors. Over recent years there has been a significant shift from the traditional pallet in pallet out type distribution centres to facilities that need to also cater for case and item picking. This has been especially evident within Food and Drink.

Which areas of your business are the best performing?

All areas of our business have performed well this year. There are three key areas within Logsitex; Integrated Systems, Engineering Support Services and our WES Reflex team. During this year we have secured a number of new projects with clients such as John Lewis Partnership and Wincanton which have also resulted in a need for our Engineering Support Services and WES teams.

Outside of this our ESS team have secured some new sites for sites previously serviced by other integrators and our Systems team worked hard to ensure we are continuing to provide our customers with a high level of service.

What sets your company apart as a supplier in your category?

As Logistex do not manufacture any hardware we are not going to sell to our customers the products that we manufacture. We can therefore offer unbiased advice and use simulation and emulation to prove the performance of any solution prior to investment. This reduces risk and increases confidence that the solution will deliver. As an integrator we provide peace of mind in that any solution we implement is handed over having passed a rigorous testing and performance criteria.

What are your most recent product innovations?

Logistex have invested significantly in both our Warehouse Execution System Reflex and our Reporting Tool Analytex.

Our WES has the capability to manage multiple technologies from alternative equipment providers and balance the work flow throughout operations. One of our most recent projects will see orders for several robotic solutions from different manufacturers, tote shuttle, conveyor and additional technologies all being controlled by Reflex. Reflex also manages all aspects of the warehouse including inventory and Dynamic Task Management.

Analytex provides customers with a Real time overview as to the performance of the facility and allows users to create custom reports specific to individual requirements.

Are you helping customers boost the level of automation in their business?

In reviewing any enquiry Logistex will first undertake a Situational Analysis Study of a current operation so we may understand the material and process flow of the current operation. Once we have demonstrated to our customer that this is understood, future growth or operational changes that will change the flow or function of an operation can be considered. Once this is identified we can start to identify relevant technologies which can then be developed into a concept.

How future proof and flexible are your solutions?

Providing a future proof or flexible solution is an essential part of our design process. Equally important is managing risk. Prior to installation Logistex will use Simulation and Emulation to demonstrate how a solution will perform. This allows us to reduce risk and provide confidence as to how a solution will perform. Emulation enables us to challenge a model using live customer data, to which we can also then demonstrate the benefit and reasoning behind adding further resilience to a design.

What exhibitions can we expect to see your company exhibiting at in 2024?

Logistex will be exhibiting at Robotics and Automation, Inside Warehouse and Tomorrow’s Warehouse where we will be showcasing our latest projects with some of our experts open to talking about the latest automation for your warehouse.

How would you sum up your company in three words?

I think to me, Logistex is Caring, Efficent and Innovative. Always putting the customer first and making change is what drives us forward.
