The past 12 months have seen some changes at the BCMPA – the Association for Contract Manufacturing, Packing, Fulfilment and Logistics. We were sorry to say goodbye to our longstanding Chief Executive, Rodney Steel in June through ill health. Rodney led the BCMPA over the past two decades to become the respected Trade Association that it is today, and a go-to-destination for brand owners and retailers looking to find outsourcing solutions to take their products to market.

Emma Verkaik
CEO at BCMPA

2023 saw the BCMPA continuing to support members across a wide range of industry sectors, including Food, Drink, Personal Care, Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, eCommerce & Fulfilment via several different platforms. From exhibitions and events to press coverage and social media, focus was given to raising awareness of the ways in which outsourcing alleviates brand owners and retailers from the day-to-day operational pressures, allowing them to focus on the business of selling their products.

Having exhibited at seven shows it was once again a busy year which started with over 22 members having stands at the Contract Pack & Fulfilment Show at the NEC in February, as part of Packaging Innovations and Empack. This was then followed by White Label Expo, IFE Manufacturing, Making Pharmaceuticals, CHEMUK and London Packaging Week – all important shows in their sectors. And we also exhibited for the first time at the ECOMMERCE EXPO in London to support our members in the eCommerce & Fulfilment sector.

The year saw exhibitions and events increasing in their footfall and we hope that this trend continues as the appetite to conduct business face-to-face is embraced again. Indeed, with over 23 members booked for the Contract Pack & Fulfilment show in 2024 we are very much looking forward to another successful year of exhibitions.

In June, Emma Verkaik was appointed as CEO, taking over from Rodney Steel. Having worked with the BCMPA membership and Rodney for the last 10 years, she is well placed to understand the requirements of members and immediately launched a membership survey to better understand the challenges facing the industry.

2024 will be no doubt an exciting year for the BCMPA as the Association builds on the activity from 2023. A Members’ Conference in June will be a key focal point, allowing the chance for attendees to network with industry peers whilst enjoying a rich speaker programme on topics that are key to the future of our industry.
