1. DSS – Technology to support stability

Configurable forklift options may help intralogistics operations to meet application specific demands. The Dynamic Stability System (DSS) is an optional technology system for the new Yale® Series N forklift trucks. It helps to promote safe operating practices and may help operations to minimise the likelihood of forward and sideways tip overs.

The innovative DSS technology for Yale Series N is made up of four sub-systems. It includes the Lateral Stability System which automatically reduces the amount the truck will lean when turning. Corner Control will also limit the truck speed when turning. The High Lift Traction and Tilt controls truck speed when handling an elevated load that is higher than the carriage height. It sends audible and visual alerts to the operator and limits truck performance in certain conditions. DSS is also a simple, maintenance-free system with no serviceable components.

2. Robotics to tackle the labour shortage

Thanks to scalable automation, Yale robotic lift trucks offer a unique level of flexibility in use, accommodating changes in demand and constantly shifting traffic patterns. The geoguidance navigation technology works without the need for dedicated infrastructure, enabling it to integrate easily into existing operations. It simply maps the physical features and structures to self-locate and navigate. This makes it quick and easy to modify or create entirely new paths to accommodate change.

Using robotic truck manager software, it’s also possible to control traffic, assign orders to individual trucks and interface with systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and WMS (Warehouse Management System), or equipment such as automatic doors, conveyors and production machines.

The Yale® robotics MC-10-15 counterbalance stacker can interact with and access pallets at height – for example, on conveyors or second shelves up to a height of 1.8m. The front laser allows the robot to sense the pallet. An optional barcode scanner can identify the correct pallet to fulfil the instruction.

This interconnectivity expands to the wider warehouse infrastructure too – sensors on conveyors can detect pallets at the end of the line and call for the robotic solution to collect the pallet and transport it to its next location.

3. Telematics – Optimising forklift fleets

Adopting telematics in a forklift operation is an effective way to drive fleet efficiency, improve operator performance, reduce carbon footprint, and lower overall materials handling costs.

Yale Vision wireless fleet management works with the free Yale Vision mobile app, the first of its kind in the material handling industry. The app offers a new level of data-driven productivity, with impact alerts, checklist notification, and real-time access to data. Operations can gain valuable insights and controls to improve operator behaviour, control access to equipment, and monitor equipment and operator utilisation.

The telematics hardware records equipment data and automatically uploads it to a secure cloud-based portal. This can be accessed from any internet-enabled device. This real-time truck data also provides a thorough view into how a forklift fleet is being utilised for day-to-day operations, to help businesses work smarter.
