Industrial facilities require large openings for vehicle access, and when open, significant amounts of heat or chilled air in temperature controlled buildings will be able to escape, resulting in increased energy bills.

This recent project was to solve temperature fluctuation at a vehicle maintenance facility for a large UK supermarket chain’s fleet of distribution vehicles.

They reported an issue with the existing roller shutter doors which couldn’t be closed when vehicles were driven into the bays over the service pits because their trailers were too long. Roger McNeal, National Accounts Manager at BID Group Ltd, visited the site and recommended extending the bays and installing KLIMATE High Speed Doors to the front of each extension. The doors now open and close automatically once the vehicle is in position keeping an ambient temperature inside the facility.

Roger added ‘High Speed Doors are incredibly energy efficient and thanks to their fast operation, can reduce the amount of time the door remains open, or partially open, minimising the amount of heat or cool air lost, maintaining temperatures, lowering energy bills, and keeping stock and employees at a regulated temperature, making them an incredibly worthwhile investment.’
