For cold chain, climate change is the biggest threat, but also the greatest source of opportunity. Accepting this fact is the first step to business success for the next generation and the one after that. Thankfully there is lots of cause to be optimistic about the pace of innovation across warehousing, transport and data management needed for the cold chain to successfully embrace the future. The Cold Chain Federation’s latest Net Zero Project report identified profitable new opportunities for cold chain operators at the forefront of the UK’s energy transformation. Demand for cold chain services is growing and our industry will be even more crucial in tackling food waste. And investing in energy efficient, low carbon facilities and equipment can minimise costs, improve resilience and help secure new business, according to Cold Chain Federation Chief Executive Shane Brennan.

NewCold optimises its power consumption continuously by collecting data about power consumption, indoor and outdoor temperatures, and other factors – such as open doors – utilising IoT equipment. The result is a responsible use of energy which is 50% less per pallet position compared with traditional cold storage facilities — creating chains of value.

Thermo King®, a leader in transport temperature control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies (NYSE: TT), announced today that three new refrigerated trailers featuring the Advancer AxlePower energy recovery system started operations in the Netherlands.
