Today’s warehouse needs a smart blend of mechanical expertise and innovative IT-led automation. LAC Logistics Automation is on top of both and knows how to combine these two elements into an effective solution that matches customer requirements.

The integrator has a range of qualities that are not often seen, with UK-based manufacturing capability, abundant experience in a wide variety of sectors, coupled with a growing software team.

This powerful set of capabilities backs up innovative robotic solutions that are powering the future of automation.

LAC’s in-house robotics skillset and close partnerships with worldwide robotic pioneers are enabling LAC to think creatively. This has allowed LAC to demonstrate proven and robust technologies in similar applications, providing customers with the confidence to develop solutions in partnership.

Early investors in warehouse robotics are now reaping the rewards with faster order fulfilment, improved inventory management and reduced costs. Confidence in intelligent robots for warehouse automation is at an all-time high.

And here is an excellent recent example.

Automation In Action

A multinational retailer of general merchandise has deployed a mix of staple automation, robotics and sophisticated software to boost the efficiency of its container unloading, while removing the need for manual intervention.

Businesses are turning to robotics as the go-to automation to solve such problems, particularly as labour shortages continue to blight the industry.

Systems integrator LAC Logistics Automation managed the project, which was prompted when the retailer realised an automated solution was required to improve the efficiency of its container unloading.

The inbound operation was complex. Not only did the new solution need to work within an expected footprint and be implemented alongside current operations, it had to handle products arriving from different suppliers with diverse tolerances (multiple SKUs).

LAC’s solution was the perfect mix of mechanical know-how and high-tech. Staple warehouse automation was used on infeed to convey and separate product. The solution was then enhanced using dynamic pallet stack generation software, which allows a new SKU to be easily introduced to robot palletising cells. This meant there was no need for manual intervention. Along with a clever robot gripper, designed to manage the diverse tolerance range, this has produced an efficient, next-generation robotic palletising solution.

Expansion Of Expertise

These are exciting times for robotics within the industry and LAC is well positioned to take on the challenge. 2023 will see further expansion to LAC’s robotics division with more expertise joining the team and further collaborations with great partners.

LAC’s robotic offering covers all bases from palletising and de-palletising, order picking and packing to high-speed pick and place. With advanced software, including machine learning, giving the robots ways to orchestrate and optimise product, paths and routing, interweaved with manual activities, LAC can help customers develop solutions to transform their logistics to keep pace with a fast-changing business environment.
