Because of the way they operate, pallet networks are the most cost-effective and environmentally efficient forms of road freight transportation. Using a pallet network to move freight enables customers to benefit from economies of scale in transport, without the need for investment in equipment and IT. Pallet networks offer next day deliveries to the vast majority of the UK, some offer weekend and Bank Holiday deliveries too.

Customers have access to the latest track and trace technology ensuring security of their freight and providing high levels of customer service. The pallet network operating model has the advantage of allowing relatively small pallet loads to be delivered cost-effectively and quickly, with savings for both the transport operator and the customer.

A next-day service to Scotland’s most northerly city launched by Palletline in May has hit the ground running, achieving an on-time delivery success rate of more than 99 per cent. The 24-hour service to Inverness and surrounding areas, launched by Palletline through its member A R R Craib, is the latest in the network’s portfolio of services, and is now part of its core offering which already includes 48 and 72-hour services to Inverness. The cost-effective new service is a first for Palletline which is one of only a few UK networks to offer an overnight / next-day service to the most northern parts of Scotland.

Pall-Ex has achieved the rare honour of an Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence for its support of the Armed Forces community. The logistics giant has been awarded the coveted accreditation due to its on-going work to support ex-military personnel via training, careers and charity fundraising. Pall-Ex’s efforts have been recognised as outstanding because of its forces-friendly commitments, including enhanced leave for Reservists and Cadets, and supporting veterans’ mental health charity Combat Stress.

The owner of growing Sussex logistics company Prestige Distribution has constructed his new premises himself from the ground up. Steve Ellis, founder and managing director of the Horsham-based company, bought a nine-acre plot of land for his expanding firm and went about building offices and a warehouse big enough to hold 300 pallets. The family-run company has been reaping the benefits of Steve’s handiwork and the £1.8 million investment ever since, with volumes increasing thanks to its membership of Pallet-Track.

It’s excellent to see the innovation from the pallet networks sector, helping keep UK logistics moving.
