Percolating their free ‘Sassy’ coffee offering, total supply chain solutions, distribution, and logistics specialist, Oakland International, has installed additional coffee machines throughout its UK facilities for visiting lorry drivers.

Initially taking on just two Sassy Coffee Company machines at its Midlands facility, the company has now increased this to ten machines to ensure haulage drivers visiting any of their depots can enjoy a ‘free’ coffee on them.

Oakland International Distribution Director Martin Pearson commented: “The machines were well received by drivers, so we decided to extend our business relationship with Sassy and install units at all of our UK depots.

“Drivers visiting any of our depots are invited to visit the canteen and have full use of our well-presented rest area, where they can use our onsite showers and toilets, which in our opinion is the least you would expect to be able to offer any long-distance visitor to any site.”

The Sassy Coffee Company’s ethical values knitted well with Oakland’s environmental and philanthropic stance of giving something back as both companies donate a proportion of their revenues to charity. Oakland International supports local and community educational and youth initiatives through its children’s charity the Oakland Foundation and Molly Olly’s Wishes which grants individual wishes and donates therapeutic toys and books to children directly and hospitals throughout the UK, whilst the Sassy Coffee Company pledges from every single coffee cup sold a penny to the Promise Dreams charity which supports seriously and terminally ill children.

Founder of Sassy Coffee Rajesh Brigue commented: “I embrace working with like-minded companies, our objectives are very much aligned, and it has been a pleasure to work with such a forward-thinking senior management team who are committed to providing fantastic facilities and benefits for their staff.

“We also appreciate how Oakland have supported Sassy Coffee through our journey and have made the decision to work with and have loyalty with a local business. This is why the fit is perfect and I look forward to a long and lasting relationship with Oakland international.”

Oakland International believes a smile, a please and a thank-you costs nothing and by offering a free hot drink for drivers to enjoy when visiting any of their facilities is the least they can do and hopefully makes the drivers’ day a little brighter.

Marin added: “The perception of professional drivers is changing but if we are to permanently resolve the current driver crisis, we all need to do more and make sure changes are made for the better, making sure they’re looked after and offloaded on time and away, and of course there’s always more we can all do.”

BRCGS AA rated, Oakland International operates 24-hours/7 days a week and a D2C/B2C/B2B specialist in contract packing, storage, picking, food distribution and a brand development support provider for ambient, chilled and frozen food to the retail, convenience, discount, wholesale and food service markets in the UK, Ireland and via their partner in Spain.
