Wales’s largest family-owned independent Logistics, Warehousing, Pallet Network, Bulk Haulage, and Express & Home Delivery company, Owens Group of Llanelli, has ordered 77 New Generation MAN TGX 26.470 6×2 tractors for its South Wales and Wrexham operations.

The order will see 27 of the new vehicles being based out of the Owens Group Llanelli depot and 50 based at their Wrexham facility in northeast Wales. The new MAN TGX Trucks, all featuring GM cabs, are replacing competitor vehicles and will boost MAN’s presence to represent almost 50% of Owens Group tractor fleet.

By adding some new creature comforts and enhancing the specification we can see these new vehicles being even more driver friendly and welcoming.”

These latest vehicles offer Owens Group driver’s a comfortable, safe, and relaxing workplace, and a true home-from-home level of comfort when spending nights away. Enhancing the vehicle specification Owens Group has equipped the GM cabbed vehicles with under bunk fridges, comfort mattresses, satellite navigation, and MAN’s revolutionary SmartSelect which provides the driver with a touch-free infotainment system.

Owens Group put safety at the forefront of everything they do and the new Owens Group TGX’s also features an additional audible handbrake warning system along with standard specification Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Turn Assist, Lane Change Support (LCS), Lane Return Assist (LRA) ACC Stop & Go, MAN AttentionGuard, High Beam Assist, and Airbag and seat belt and belt tensioner system, which helps protect the driver in the unfortunate event of an accident.

The new MAN TGX trucks are all powered by MAN’s latest’s generation D26 Euro6D six-cylinder 12.4 litre engines, which have not only proved to be 8% better on fuel than the predecessor model but also 80 kg lighter, both areas that proactively impact upon fleet Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and vehicle whole life performance. With their 6×2 mid lift axle configuration, they offer a robust and payload efficient tractor solution.

Eurof added: “We invest in and refresh our fleet regularly and today 90 percent of our vehicles are under three years old. Because of the company ethos we are able to take advantage of the latest manufacturer technology, including fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly drivetrains, advanced safety systems, telematics, and driver creature comforts.”
