National children’s charity Molly Olly’s Wishes and ethical family business Oakland International have joined forces to deliver food and hampers to families and children in need of support across the country this Christmas.

Molly Olly’s Wishes assists families whose children have a life threatening or life limiting illness, supporting their emotional wellbeing and granting individual wishes and donating therapeutic toys and books both directly to children and via the many hospitals they work with throughout the UK.

Community nursing teams and hospitals supported by Molly Olly’s Wishes helped identify families struggling financially, many of whom badly affected by the economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic or who just need an emotional boost.

Working together, Oakland International donated 150 food hampers and Molly Olly’s Wishes 150 children’s hampers containing an assortment of different gifts.

Charity founder, Rachel Ollerenshaw, commented: “The charity has been very busy over the past few weeks wrapping gifts and out delivering.

“We are extremely grateful to Oakland International and all those who have donated gifts and helped make this happen. It has helped spread some Christmas cheer in dark days and we are receiving some lovely thank yous from families.”

A total supply chain solutions provider, Oakland International’s policy is to give something back wherever possible to the local community, even launching their own local children’s charity, the Oakland Foundation, eight years ago.

Oakland International Executive Assistant Jane Thompson commented: “Rachel explained Molly Olly’s Wishes would be donating children’s hampers to the families they support and struggling to make ends meet having been badly affected by the financial consequences of the pandemic.

“Not only were these families fighting emotionally to support a sick child, they were now facing the very real and devastating consequences of loss of earnings and all the emotional anguish that brings, so we were delighted to partner with Rachel and Molly Olly’s Wishes and support their wonderful Christmas hamper campaign.”
