UK plastic packaging tax – how will it affect your business?

The new plastic tax is not that far away. The UK Government announced the new plastic packaging tax in the 2020 budget, which comes into force from April 2022. It will apply to plastic packaging, which contains less than 30% recycled content. The tax rate will provide an economic incentive for businesses who use recycled packaging materials, and aims to encourage levels of recycling, collection of plastic waste, and to divert it away from landfill and incineration.

AIRplus® Recycle packaging – reusable and recyclable, prolonging products lifecycle

Storopack AIRplus® Recycle film contains a minimum 50% of recycled plastic and is available in void, cushion, bubble and wrap mediums. Progressive companies aiming to plan ahead of the new tax need look no further than Storopack. With its recently extended range of AIRplus® Recycle films, customers have now started to convert to this environmentally friendly packaging option.

Sales Director Mark Mardel comments “Storopack over the last 3 years has made significant investment in in-house production of recycled plastic films. The AIRplus® Recycle range is used largely in e-commerce packaging operations and has seen a significant increase in demand over the last 6 months. We know consumer restrictions have accelerated the growth of e-commerce in the UK during Covid-19, but this hasn’t reduced the consumer’s desire for products with sustainable and environmental credentials. We see AIRplus® Recycle as extremely beneficial to our customer distributor partners, as their customers will benefit from using AIRplus® Recycle and it will help businesses with cost savings.”

In 2021, Storopack aims to provide further ground-breaking products and solutions that will increase the levels of recycled products in its portfolio, working towards its sustainability goals.
