In response to the continuing COVID-19 issue, Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) has launched its digital training facility, enabling its audience to purchase training courses, online. Following government recommendations, DHF ceased its face-to-face training and has responded swiftly to a continuing need to provide training to its members and the wider public. With training very much the ‘backbone’ of DHF’s function, it has been essential to adapt to changing circumstances, as Head of Commercial Operations, Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens, explains: “In recent weeks, businesses and organisations, UK-wide, have had to adjust to a new way of operating, and for many, other than lockdown restrictions, it is very much ‘business as usual’. DHF prides itself on keeping the industry informed by delivering training that enables safe and compliant products to be put on the market. These trying times will not compromise our offering of advice and guidance and the federation’s employees remain committed to helping its members as much as possible during this time.”

High-speed industrial door manufacturers are playing a key supply chain role in the food production and distribution sectors during the Coronavirus crisis with enhanced service and maintenance capabilities. With a range of high-speed roller doors installed in multiple industrial premises across the UK, Union Industries is providing a dedicated preventative maintenance service as well as emergency repair response capabilities.

During the COVID-19 emergency when pressure is on the food industry, particularly companies involved in temperature-controlled warehousing, to meet supply requirements, Union Industries has deployed 16 field-based service teams to support the sector.

It has placed its teams on stand-by, ready for immediate deployment to assist companies in this critical industry with any issues that may impact on the productivity of their operations and the availability of stock. A BID statement said the company’s Roller Shutter Doors are easy to operate, robust, fully galvanised, operated via a direct drive and manufactured at the firm’s in-house production facility.

Ronnie Banks, Area Sales Manager for BID Group, comments: “The facility required a run of replacement doors to allow easy access whilst providing maximum security.” BID Group’s Roller Shutter Doors are available in various sizes with manual or electric operation. Electric operated roller shutter doors can be fitted with any one or a combination of actuation or safety devices to suit the environment that they are operating in. A range of optional extras available includes seals, wicket doors, hoods, fascia’s, soffit panels, locking devices, powder coat or plastisol finish.

Hörmann UK is continuing its partnership with Panattoni as part of the industrial developer’s Derby370 site. Hörmann has supplied a diverse portfolio of solutions to the site including standard loading bays, double deck loading bays, telescopic lip dock levellers, dock shelters, level access doors and fire exit doors.

Union Industries, BID Group and Hörmann all provide admirable examples of door suppliers maintaining high standards during these troubled times.
