National builders’ merchants Keyline turned to Spaciotempo for the sixth time when it wanted to expand its Exeter operation.

The company has a network of 60 branches offering specialist civils and drainage solutions, heavy building materials, and specialist rail and utilities materials.

The success of the Exeter branch has led to an expansion project which will see it double in size.

As part of the development, Keyline also planned to significantly increase the range of products it offers customers.

However, some of the new goods need to be kept undercover meaning a storage facility was required. After receiving a first-class service each time it had previously worked with Spaciotempo, Keyline knew exactly who to commission for the job.

Reputation

Keyline Business Manager Dave Wills said: “Spaciotempo has a positive reputation at Keyline, having installed buildings at a number of sites across the country so it was the natural choice when we wanted to expand the operation at Exeter.

“As part of the development, we wanted to widen the range of goods that we stock, further increasing trade. However, many of the additional products need to be protected from the elements and stored undercover, which is why the temporary warehouse was essential.

“The building has made a big difference to the expansion of our product range and has also been good for the team. The structure can easily accommodate forklift trucks, so we are now able to store the machinery indoors overnight. This is far better for the trucks and for members of staff who used to have to de-ice them in the mornings when the cold weather hit.”

The temporary warehouse measures 15m wide x 30m long on a six-metre eave.

The bespoke structure has been designed to reflect Keyline’s distinctive branding with cornflower blue cladding and goosewing grey flashings.

It has two single personnel doors and two electric roller shutter doors along with a thermo roof and gables to provide insulation.

The package installed by Spaciotempo includes five 90W LED lights and emergency exit signs.
