A fast-growing flooring company has opened its latest depot, in Kent, to enable it to keep up with demand for its products and to complement its physical store expansion programme across the UK.
So far in 2018, Connection Retail has opened five new Flooring Superstores, in Newport, Swindon, Edinburgh, Keighley and York, with more set to follow.
It has also added the Flooring Superstore brand to four of its existing Direct Wood Flooring stores in Thurrock, Bracknell, Coventry and Birtley. In the stores shoppers also have access to the company’s other brand, Grass Direct, which has the UK’s largest selection of artificial grass at 38 ranges
As one of the UK’s leading online flooring retailers, the company already has a number of strategically placed depots which enable it to ensure that its customers receive a fast, efficient chosen day delivery service.
But with the emergence of the physical stores, Connection Retail is now further expanding its network of depots across the UK.
It has just opened a 7,500 square foot facility in Saracen Close, Gillingham, Kent. This has created five new warehouse/driving jobs for local people
This brings its numbers of regional hubs to eight, with depots already in Shildon, Falkirk, Luton, Daventry, Stockport, Bristol and Newport.
Connection Retail Operations Manager, Nick Bisicker, said: “Our in-house delivery network has grown rapidly since we started trading online in 2012.
“From our central warehouse in the North East of England our articulated lorries transport thousands of products each day to our regional hubs.
“From here our drivers deliver more than 700 deliveries of flooring to homes across the UK.
“The hubs are also used to supply our flooring products to our physical stores and as we have doubled the number of stores in just six months, it is important that we can cover every part of the UK.
“The new Gillingham depot provides us with our own hub for the south east, which enables us to deliver to homes in areas such as Brighton, Dover, Canterbury and Eastbourne.”
With an current annual turnover of £24 million, but rising to £35 million by 2019, Connection Retail is one of the UK’s fastest growing flooring companies.
Established in 2012 as an online business, it now also has 11 ‘bricks and mortar’ stores in Edinburgh, Swindon, Newport, York x2 , Coventry, Thurrock, Bracknell, Gateshead, Havant and Keighley. Further stores are scheduled to open in 2018 and 2019.
