TPN – The Pallet Network – runs a Midlands cross-docking operation in Sutton Coldfield and a northern hub near Preston. The network ethos is one of excellence and continual improvement, not just at the hubs but throughout the organisation’s 108- strong membership of regional hauliers.

TPN’s audit team made 447 visits last year to member premises. As well as rigorously auditing their operations, the team also spends time with members helping them to put systems in place, training staff and working with them to achieve the highest standards.

All TPN members have free access to TPN’s Connect software to ensure that they have the right tools for financial control, route optimisation, freight capacity management and customer satisfaction.

Connect saves approximately 4,000 employee days a year across the network and is also a major selling point with customers. Last year, TPN handled 3.55 million pallets, most of which are timed or next day deliveries and in 2017-18, volumes are already up 13 per cent.

Financially, 2016-17 was a record year for EBITDA. Indeed, over the last three years pallet growth has been up by around 17 per cent and the group’s EBITDA has grown by some 59 per cent. The company’s extra market share last year accounted for 225,000 pallet movements.

TPN now believes that it has the largest and most loyal membership in the sector with excellent and sustainable service levels with the most sophisticated IT system and purpose-built, future-proofed and environmentally sustainable Hub facilities.
