Gruber Liquid Logistics has taken delivery of a new individually specified Konecranes Reach Stacker at its UK site – in just two weeks – thanks to Impact’s ongoing commitment to investment and innovation in its UK heavy truck offering.

The Goole-based business’ new reach stacker, enabled its UK team to handle laden ISO tank containers for the first time, saving on the cost of hiring a third-party heavy-lift supplier.

It has also prompted close ties between the bulk liquid specialist’s head office team in Germany, and Nottingham-based Impact – the sole distributor of Konecranes in the UK and Ireland.

Before specifying the heavy truck, the Impact team visited Germany to work alongside Gruber Liquid Logistics’ engineers and fully understand all of the company’s requirements.

In return, Managing Director Werner Weber travelled to Impact’s depot in Doncaster to ensure the truck was a perfect fit for the firm’s expanding UK operations.

David Martindale, Company Secretary at Gruber Liquid Logistics, says: “This was an important milestone for us as a business as it’s our first reach-stacker in the UK.

“We were impressed that Impact recognised that and took the time to really understand our needs by visiting our colleagues in Germany. They have really demonstrated the qualities that make Konecranes the best in its class. “Within two weeks of ordering we had the new truck in service, which is impressive by any standards. With most suppliers you expect long lead times, but Impact had the truck in stock so there was no waiting for a factory build.”

The proximity of Impact’s Hull depot to Gruber Liquid Logistics’ headquarters in Goole means Impact’s factory-trained engineers can provide true 24/7 support.

Martindale adds: “The things that have stood out right from the start have been Impact’s interest in our business and their focus on proactive maintenance. They prevent issues before they come up, and make sure they do any checks or work that is needed during our quiet times so we don’t lose out on productivity.”

Gruber Liquid Logistics also plans to offer the Konecranes’ heavy lifting capacity as a revenue-generating service to other companies operating near its Goole depot.

Headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Gruber Liquid Logistics also operates a site in Rotterdam and provides road and rail transport for bulk liquids, pastes and temperaturecontrolled products across Europe with its in-house distribution fleet. Impact is the sole distributor for Konecranes Lift Trucks in the UK and are exhibiting at Multimodal 4-6th April, Stand No. 6050. Please drop in for a chat and a warm welcome to meet the team.
