2016 is set to be another recordbreaking year for Hörmann with numerous major projects in the pipeline and orders steadily increasing in new business areas. The industrial door and loading bay manufacturer remains at the forefront of its sector as Europe’s leading supplier of doors, with much of its success coming down to its extensive range of high-quality products that all benefit from cutting-edge German engineering.
However, Hörmann’s flexibility and innovation is becoming an increasingly important element in its winning formula. As many operations now utilise a wide range of transport, including standard, double deck and aerodynamic trailers, as well as vans and other smaller vehicles, Hörmann has developed products that are versatile. Where multiple fleets are using the same loading bays, Hörmann’s taller dock shelters with inflatable heads, which create a seal around whatever size trailer, are ideal. Similarly, the manufacturer’s telescopic lip dock levellers enable precise positioning for a greater range of vehicles, making docking both easier and safer.
Hörmann’s high-speed sectional door is another example of a product designed with multiple uses in mind. The HS7030 is specified across a variety of industries due to its ability to minimise heat loss and improve traffic flow and productivity. Featuring a PU-foamed door leaf, it has a UD-value of 1.95 W/(m2K), the 42mm double-skinned steel door reaches an opening speed of up to 2.5 metres per second and a maximum closing speed of 0.5 metres per second.
These doors have been installed in temperature controlled frozen and chilled operations, as well as TNT’s new sortation hub in Swindon, where over 650 items are processed a minute. They’re also proving popular for level entry access points on sites where forklifts and other vehicles pass through frequently.
Safety is a high priority for Hörmann with all products meeting or exceeding EU legislation. The innovative safety light grille, with non-contact roll-up technology, is incorporated into the fast-action doors helping to eliminate collision or injury by recognising obstacles in the closing zone. As cargo is offloaded onto cassette trailers instead of lorries, Hörmann’s loading bay technology was successfully adapted for the site’s unique circumstances.
