CLICK HERE TO LAUNCH THE IMHX 2016 EXHIBITOR FOCUS DIGITAL EDITION OF WAREHOUSE & LOGISTICS NEWS MAGAZINE

Welcome to the Warehouse & Logistics News IMHX 2016 Exhibitor Focus, highlighting our pick of the leading suppliers at the show, every one with a strong proposition in terms of products, customer service, technical knowledge and experience.

Warehousing and logistics continues to be fundamental to the successful operation of businesses and non-commercial organisations and remains a major focus for investment and expenditure, hence the need for maximum information for buyers and decision makers.

Each of our featured companies is well placed to help you achieve your development ambitions in different areas of your operation and they are all looking forward to meeting you at the NEC and discussing your requirements.

Here are some highlights.

The biggest change since IMHX 2013, reckons Scott Jamieson, MD of temporary buildings provider Spaciotempo (stand 11N11), is the UK’s lack of warehouse and storage facilities. “The e-commerce boom and growing demands for just-intime manufacturing have changed the way businesses store products.

They want on-demand warehousing and can’t justify long term tenancies.” SpacioTempo’s aluminium-framed structures address this and are available at short notice.

Unipart Logistics (10J47) is part of the Unipart Group, a leading UK manufacturer, full service logistics provider and consultant in operational excellence. Global Industrial Logistics Director Bernard Molloy promises “a big surprise” on the stand from their client McLaren, the Formula One racing group.

SSI Schaefer (9D79) is “active in just about all industry sectors,” says Mike Alibone, Business Development & Marketing Manager, “but e-commerce is particularly strong.” SSI Schaefer’s portfolio ranges from plastic totes through modular shelving, carton live storage and racking to fully automated picking solutions and rack-clad automated storage and retrieval systems.

This is the fifth IMHX for industrial and domestic door manufacturer Hörmann (10J37). For Sales Director Alan Jenkins, the biggest impact since 2013 is changes in the way retailers handle returns.

Other changes he says include the move from central hubs to satellite distribution centres, use of double deck trailers and new ways of loading vehicles, which Hörmann have addressed with loading bay technology developments contributing to improved warehouse safety and customer flexibility.

KNAPP (12U85) is well known as a global warehouse automation and software supplier, having pioneered shuttle-based storage technology and delivered over 18,000 shuttles in over 250 systems worldwide. MD Craig Rollason says the continued rise of e-tail is favouring KNAPP’s focus on goods-to-person technologies, “but the human factor is still key to our success.”

Easypack (9B23) has seen growth across all sectors in recent years for its highly engineered, robust, environmentally friendly packaging solutions. Jason Cox, Operations Director says Easypack have also seen much higher demand since IMHX 2013.

Materials handling equipment is a major part of IMHX. In our supplement we have a spread of fork lift truck suppliers who are very familiar with the changing needs of businesses. Warehouse articulated truck specialists Narrow Aisle Ltd (12U84) and multi-direction and versatility experts Combilift Ltd (12X69) are regular participants in IMHX. These companies’ machines are often owned or leased by smaller operations but many large fork truck fleets supplied by the larger, multi-national manufacturers also include specialist trucks from these suppliers, required for particular tasks.

One-stop engineering and equipment solutions provider Briggs Equipment (12S95 and 10H50) is sole UK distributor for Hyster and Yale. Unicarriers (9D70), now part of Mitsubishi and formed in a merger between Atlet, Nissan Forklift and TCM, offers these wellknown names.

Large-scale warehousing and logistics operations with multiple locations often prefer to link up with big forklift manufacturers as their partners. Hyundai Heavy Industries (10J60) makes over 90 models of forklifts and is staging the world premiere of its new range of warehouse equipment at IMHX. Part of the multi-national KION Group, Linde Material Handling (12U45) is the world’s second largest forklift manufacturer in revenue terms and enjoys particularly strong sales here and in Europe. The world’s largest forklift truck manufacturer, Toyota Materials Handling UK is on 12S75. Its parent company Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) was formed 90 years ago and has roots here in the UK. Tony Wallis, Commercial Director, reveals Sakichi Toyoda sold the patent for his automatic loom to Platt Brothers in Oldham for £100,000 in 1929 and used the money to finance the step into manufacturing cars. Materials handling now represents 40% of TICO’s €15 billion turnover.

Addressing the growing pressure on industry to be green and reduce its carbon footprint, Flogas UK (10H16) supplies LPG for FLT operations in cylinders and bulk. Rob McCord, Flogas’ Head of National Sales says, LPG produces less CO2 than diesel and produces fewer PM10 particles so creates a cleaner environment.

Finally, getting materials handling equipment back up and running after it fails comes down to an effective parts supply. TVH UK Ltd (12S85) is an all-round supplier, through its TVH Parts business, of quality parts and accessories for material handling, industrial vehicles and agricultural equipment. We hope you find the Warehouse & Logistics News IMHX 2016 Exhibitor Focus informative and beneficial and your visit to IMHX 2016 proves rewarding and fulfilling.
