The rolling shutter and rolling grille range from Hörmann has long been renowned in the industry as an economical, sturdy and reliable option. Where automation is required, the operating system should be carefully considered to find the ideal match for the fitting situation.

Hörmann’s operating systems are easy to fit and come with softstart, soft-stop technology as standard, ensuring secure door travel that is gentle on the mechanisms.

If space is scarce, the WA 300 AR S4 operator, which is fitted next to the barrel instead of beneath it, could be the solution.

A secure release action is located externally and easily accessible, meaning the door can be switched to manual at any time. Not only does this make maintenance easier, but ensures that the door always remains fully functional, even in the event of a power failure.

Hörmann extended its rolling shutter range last year with the launch of the DD system at the BAU trade show in Munich. The new door’s direct drive operator is directly connected to the barrel, offering more flexibility for a variety of different openings up to 12 metres wide and 9 metres high.

With a side room requirement of just 80mm, the DD rolling shutter is the ideal choice for tight spaces. Available for a wide range of Hörmann curtains or grilles, this system also comes with wind locks or pull-out protection as standard.

An extra accessory package for the DD rolling shutter, for use with Hörmann’s highly insulated Decotherm curtain, is the DD S6.

A powerful FU operator allows the shutter to achieve faster and manually adjustable opening speeds, which can reach a maximum of 1.1 metres per second, enabling up to 30 door cycles per hour.

In addition, the S6 version benefits from L-pads on the curtain’s interior, which minimise noise and wear when the door is in use and can significantly extend the working life of the shutter.

Hormann-Standard-Logo---LargeHörmann’s rolling shutter and grille range is now accessible from the NBS National BIM Library for use by architects and specifiers. The information attached to each BIM object means that the products are more likely to be installed correctly from the initial planning stages of the project, saving time and money for everyone involved in the build.
