The Institute of Couriers ceremonially gowns 12 fellows each year and appoints one hon gowned fellow. The gala ceremony takes place at the House of Lords and is conducted by IOC president, Viscount, Lord Falkland.

The honorary gown went to Mike Brown, newly appointed TFL Commissioner, Clothed by the Master Carmen & IOC president Viscount Falkland & IOC Chairman Carl Lomas MBE following nomination by IOC fellow, Sir Peter Hendy.

IOC Chairman Carl Lomas, ‘The institute awards one honary gown each year, we are delighted to see Mike Brown receive the 2016 honour. He joins last years hon fellow, Traffic Commissioner Sarah Bell and is greatly welcomed to our institute. Mike’s first task was to deliver a heads of industry lecture to fellows in the City of London.’

The twelve ceremonial gowns of 2016 went to, Simon Allan-Brooks Antalis, Daniel Allin Diamond Logistics, Greg Filmer Swift group, David Jacobs DX, Stephen May Sameday Co, Sean McGrae Tarmac, Sandra Robinson Diamond Logistics, Terry Room CitySprint, Johnathon Smith APC, Emma Sutherland FedEx, Jane Weaver AJS Couriers, David Poole DPD.

Guests from across the sector and across the UK were present. From all points of the compass, Scotland to the south coast, Liverpool to Tilbury, nationals networks and regionals from Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham to celebrate the 2016 gowns of the Institute of Couriers.
