TVH has two business units: Parts & Accessories (TVH Parts) and Equipment (TVH Equipment). TVH Equipment is a specialist in new and second-hand lift trucks and aerial work platforms. TVH Parts is your all-round supplier of quality parts and accessories for material handling, industrial vehicles and agricultural equipment.
Stephen Smallbone, General Manager, TVH UK LTD, spoke to Warehouse & Logistics News.
WLN – As the leading spare parts company, how has the category been performing in the last 12 months? What are the major trends and developments?
2015 has been a very good year, with growth in all of our market places. In particular, we have shown strong growth in parts for cleaning equipment, aerial work platforms, telehandlers, agriculture and port equipment.
WLN – What are your best-known products and services?
Besides an extensive range of spares for industrial equipment, we continue to increase our range of service exchange parts. Service exchange is an ideal green opportunity for TVH and its customers, based on the proposition ‘Reconditioned: Recycled: Reliable.’
Continuing the green theme, our Energic Plus battery regenerator is the ultimate solution to extend the lifespan of your batteries. This fantastic piece of equipment can be used to reclaim apparently scrap batteries, resulting in many more years of active use.
WLN – How important is being green to TVH?
TVH is strongly committed to the environment. We have invested in solar panels and other durable green projects. Even our reconditioned parts contribute to a better environment. We recycle parts and recondition them in an environmentally friendly way. This way our customers win twice: you get a better price and contribute to a greener society.
WLN – Which industry sectors are your customers in?
Our customers are active in many different segments of the material handling, industrial and agricultural equipment industry. TVH continues to keep growing in the parts industry thanks to our ongoing strategy of acquisitions with activities in several different markets.
WLN – What makes you the ‘go to’ supplier in your area of expertise?
TVH sets the benchmark for continuous innovation and excellence in quality and service in our segment of the industry, and remains fully focused on delighting its customers and business partners. TVH is committed to proving a true one-stop shop experience.
WLN – What changes have you made to your core offering in the last year?
We are constantly exploring new market places; in addition we are always looking to expand the range in our established markets. This ensures that our offering is as near to complete as is possible.
WLN – Can you tell us about your latest major projects, and what they involve?
One of the main highlights of this year was our acquisition of Rentaclamp Coventry Ltd. Thanks to this acquisition TVH UK can now offer all its customers in the UK and Ireland a true ‘one-stop shop’ experience for new and reconditioned attachments.
Furthermore, TVH UK will now be able to offer via Rentaclamp short and long term rental together with full after sales service, either at your premises or in our workshop. Another major development this year has been strengthening our online ordering facility. We are constantly updating and extending MyTotalSource, our webshop for spare parts and accessories, where you can send offers and place orders online, 24/7. For every reference you can see immediately the price, the lead time and available stock, and view pictures and technical features.
MyPartsFinder is the way to access your parts, using the make and type of your truck to get a list of fast moving items. With MyProductSearch, if you don’t know the part number, brand or the type of truck, you can still identify your parts by means of specifications or technical info.
In addition we have recently launched MyTotalSource mobile, a mobile application created especially for smartphone users, available for both iOS and Android. This app allows you not only to place inquiries, consult your quote history but also offers you a scan option. It’s fast, easy and available wherever you are, 24/7.
WLN – Have you entered any new markets in the past year? How are they performing?
TVH has recently launched a 600-page catalogue aimed exclusively at the tail lift market. We can now support all popular makes in this important market sector. With over 27,000 references in stock and more than 136,000 known references, we offer you an extensive range of parts for tail lifts. The product range is suitable for the following brands: AMA, Anteo, Bär Cargolift, Behrens, Eurolift, Dautel, Dhollandia, Erhel Hydris, Mariba, MBB Palfinger, Ratcliff, Sörensen, Teha.
WLN – Have you made any big moves recently in terms of investment in the business, recruitment and so on?
In 2014 we more than doubled our warehouse space in the UK. 2015 has been about ensuring we filled the new warehouse with the right kind of products to support our customers. We can now deliver from stock an extensive range of large and heavy items, transport sensitive items at a carriage included price.
On the recruitment side, TVH UK is incredibly proud of all the loyal staff that continue to support our valued customers. In the last 14 years we have only had retirements and relocations to our Belgian head office. This has enabled us to offer the highest and most continuous level of support to all our customers. In 2015 and 2016 we will continue to invest in our people. Without them people we would not be able to meet the exacting standards expected of us by our customers.
WLN – Are you exhibiting at any major trade shows this year?
TVH will be present at trade shows worldwide, and in lots of different markets. We will be present at CeMAT in Germany and in Russia, and in the UK we’ll be attending Vertikal Days at Haydock Park and IMHX at the NEC, Birmingham.
