If you have a busy warehouse operation, particularly in the manufacturing or distribution industry, you will know the amount of space that various palletisation equipment and consumables occupies.

miniair-standKite Packaging, one of the leading UK packaging distributors, is well-versed in these busy operations and has recently launched a range of Pallet Wrapping Machines to help with space optimisation, and other Warehouse efficiencies.

Packing machines such as this make an operation much more structured, as wrapping pallets is limited to one particular area, ensuring the packing operation is kept clean and efficient.

Kite have launched traditional turntable pallet wrapping machines, with five different models available, and robot pallet wrapping machines. These robot models are even more efficient at maximising space in the Warehouse as they do not have a fixed position. Instead, they can be remotely controlled to wrap pallets anywhere in an operation – ideal if the bagging area becomes overcrowded and pallets need to be wrapped elsewhere.

To support the new range Kite Packaging are also encouraging companies to take advantage of its other space-saving products. This includes both plastic and presswood pallets that have a unique stackable design feature, allowing them to be piled safely and efficiently. Unlike traditional timber pallets that take up much more space, plastic and presswood pallets are much more compact and also lighter, making them cheaper to transport and easier to handle.

In terms of void fill and protection, for smaller loads and parcels, Kite has developed several systems including the Kite Mini Air. Producing air cushions, a direct replacement for bubble wrap and loose-fill chips, the competitively priced system is used in conjunction with uninflated air cushions, wound on to a roll.

Kite’s original tests when launching its Mini Air system showed that one 300 metre roll of uninflated air cushions was equivalent to 15 bags of loose fill chips, (usually about 15 cubic feet per bag), in terms of useable volume. When comparing this to space the advantages are undeniable, as the tallest roll Kite sells is 400mm and no bigger than 500mm wide. This is without considering the other benefits of using air cushions over loose fill, including cost-savings and enhanced protection.
